Hi, yes its made of a dense cake covered in ready to roll fondant icing. The mountain is just made from pieces I'd cut off the main body of the dragon, which is basically an egg shape covered with the fondant and the neck and tail added afterwards. The wings were a bit trickier, you need to add a gum additive which hardens the sugarpaste, I made them to size and put them to dry whilst I added the details like the spikes. You can paint the dragon with food colourant after but it looks better if you knead the colour into the paste first. Hope this helps, I'd love to see the results. Good luck! :>
Beautiful! Did you make this?? +sigh* I have been looking for someone for ages to make me a cake like this for my b-day... but none around here is talented enough to make them. This one looks delicious!
hi, the dragon is made from a good dense chocolate cake, sculpted into shape and then covered in ready to roll fondant icing coloured first. then i add the details like the head etc, and yes you can eat all of him!
the main body of the dragon is cake but the tail, neck and head are fondant icing. its much easier to model the fiddly bits from fondant than to try to carve fine detail in cake. and yes, its all edible!
